Two Worlds United students must be motivated, flexible, open-minded, curious, adaptable to new situations, and should have a sense of humor. Students must complete a standard application and submit all required paperwork to be accepted to the program.

Beginners are Welcome!  Prior Language Study is not required for Summer Programs

There are no language requirements for any of the Two Worlds United programs that are less than 3 months duration and beginners are welcome to enroll.   Programs in England, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand do not require any previous foreign language study since these are English speaking countries.  Language requirements for long term programs vary by destination and in some destinations there are no language requirements for long term programs.  All programs are open to high school students. Students must be at least 13 years old.

If you choose to attend a Summer Program which includes Language Courses you will be required to take a placement test in the Foreign Language Studied.  This is a test to determine language level, and scores are used to determine what Courses you will be enrolled in while on the program.  Beginners courses are available, test scores do not affect a student's acceptance to the Foreign Exchange Student Program.

Background and Philosophy

Two Worlds United believes that travel is education and the world is a classroom.  Two Worlds United programs allow students to combine classroom work with hands-on experience and total immersion in many of the world’s best destinations.  Two Worlds United has over 15 years of experience in providing international intercultural learning programs for youth, Two worlds United focus is to provide individualized support to each participant and to provide a quality program through personalized programs.

Each Two Worlds United program provides cross-cultural orientation to prepare students for the experience of living and traveling abroad. During orientation, participants learn about the customs and characteristics of the country in which they will be living in order to help them fully experience and enjoy their stay abroad.

Two Worlds United’s goal is to bring unity among cultures, introducing youth into a new world in which they can share their own culture with those encountered abroad.  Since Two Worlds United programs focus on uniting two cultures, the contribution of the student to the host culture is as important as the contribution of the host culture to the student.  For this reason Two Worlds United screens and selects participants that are highly motivated to learn about customs and cultures other than their own. Selected participants are chosen for their adaptability, maturity, responsibility, and overall positive attitude and behavior.
